I need to make a solution of vitamin K1 in peanut oil.

  • I would like to add an anti-oxidant in the form of alpha-tocopherol. Is this necessary and if so, which is the appropriate concentration?
  • would it be useful to add a preservative, or is it superfluous? If useful, what do you suggest?

Answer

Adding an antioxidant does not seem to me necessary if the solution is kept in the dark, given that light plays an important role in the oxidation of Vit K. Perhaps it is also better to use Miglyol, as this oil will not contain any peroxides. Adding a preservative is superfluous in oil.
